Benefits of Yoga During the Summer

With the holidays approaching, we have already set our sights on those days of relaxation and disconnection in which our main objective is to rest as much as our body and mind. And beyond the physical part, some situations such as work, routine, among other factors can begin to unbalance our mental peace and this can begin to cause us to feel exhausted, stressed or anxious.

And sometimes we don’t keep in mind that stress and anxiety are often the main reasons for our lack of sleep. And, in this case, meditation and yoga are perfect exercises to calm the mind, which most of us look for on our ‘off’ days.

Summer can be very beneficial in the practice of yoga as heat eases the flexibility of our body tissues.

Keep in mind to be careful with yoga practices that are too forceful, as they can excessively increase our internal body temperature and could cause dizziness or overall tiredness.

Keep reading to find out about the best tips and advice to practice yoga this summer and its benefits.

Vitamin D boost

Something you should not forget when practicing yoga is to take care of your skin and protect it from damaging UV rays. In any case, if we protect ourselves well, a practice of about 15-30 minutes of yoga outdoors will be an excellent opportunity to gain a good dose of vitamin D.

Enhances concentration

One of the realities is that we are often surrounded by external sounds. From the sounds of our colleagues, through the noise of our house, or the outside if we live in a traffic or noise area. However, when we practice outside, especially in nature where there is not much noise, the first thing we notice is that we are much more able to concentrate.

Increases oxygen circulation

As we’ve mentioned in previous blog posts, yoga postures help to open the chest, release tension, unblock the flow of energy and drain mucus from the lungs, therefore activating the circulation of oxygen in our body and also in our brain. This is the reason why yoga helps us to have more energy and helps our brain to be physically healthier.

Improves balance

One of the elements that yoga helps us work on is our balance and body posture. When we practice outdoors we face different terrains and others may be more irregular, in which the work of balance strengthens. It is possible that as a beginner it will be more difficult for you to do postures on a floor that is not completely flat, but give it time and with practice it will be easier for you.
